Pics at the Clinton School

Linda photographed some of the Clinton School of Public Service grad students earlier this week while they were on the truck.

Grad students take a time warp back to 6th grade

Today we went to the Clinton Library just down the road from our home base at the Museum of Discovery in downtown Little Rock and showed our truck to a group of grad students. Before they got on to see the exhibits I told them:

"Try and take your mind back to 6th grade... you're in an overcrowded room that is most likely under-air-conditioned. Day in and day out it's all sorts of the same stuff. But then you get the opportunity to see The Race for Planet 'X'!" I asked them to pair up and reminded them that back in 6th grade cooties was one of the primary decision-making factors for who your partner was going to be. All that were present had a distant look in their eyes for a moment as they reflected upon the days of cootie shots and complex chants that supposedly provided immunity to such corruption.

Upon entering the truck we got the usual "ooo's" and "aaaahh's," but it was about an octave lower than what Derrick and I are used to hearing from the younger crowd. Everyone on board seemed to have a delightful time and it was encouraging for us because this group of grad students might actually help us get into regions in Arkansas such as the Delta. Their projects might be able to help spread the word about our program. The event has been mutually beneficial, and I am glad I was able to help remind a few grad students that learning can be fun.

Tomorrow I'll post a link to some photos Linda took of the festivities.
